Today is the inaugural international day for Women in Maritime organized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). This year’s theme focuses on “Training-Visibility-Recognition: Supporting a barrier-free working environment” for women.
The day celebrates women in the industry and is intended to promote the recruitment, retention, and sustained employment of women in the maritime sector, raise the profile of women in maritime, strengthen IMO’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 (gender equality) and support work to address the current gender imbalance in maritime.
On this very first Women in Maritime day, we celebrate
– Ms. Shazwa Ibrahim Rasheed who is currently heading the documentation department at MSS. She is specialized in the documentation processes of sea freight imports and exports with over 13 years of experience on her portfolio.
– Ms. Mariyam Reema, our Senior Documentation Officer. She has been working in this specialized industry for over a decade. She is responsible for maintaining the documentation processes of both sea freight imports and exports of our fleet.

We, at MSS endeavor to commit to this vision by IMO and are pleased to confirm that 50% of our employees at our headquarters are female. Our aim is to raise awareness regarding the diversity of this industry and to empower the women in our nation to join and further our maritime industry which has an abundance of opportunities.
